Introduction:

Welcome to Advanced Computational Fluid Dynamics

Description:

  • Day 1. Fundamentals of CFD
  • Day 2. Turbulent flow modeling
  • Day 3. Multiphase flow modeling
  • Day 4. Reacting flow modeling

Reacting multiphase flows underpin not only conventional thermochemical conversion technologies but also emerging green technologies such as CCUS, green fuels, and negative-emission technologies. The most powerful and cost-effective path to innovation in these technologies is advanced CFD-based modeling and virtual testing, supported by targeted real-world testing. Only after this foundation is in place can system-level process modeling/integration be truly effective. It is important to recognize such a basic fact and invest proper effort in advanced CFD, rather than focusing only on process modeling.

Including learning objectives: This advanced CFD course will provide a familiarity with and an in-depth understanding of fundamentals of CFD, and advanced modeling of turbulent flows, multiphase flows and reacting flows.

Prerequisites: Basic knowledge in fluid flow, turbulence, multiphase flow, chemical reactions, programming

Form of evaluation: Finish a mini-project and submit the mini-project report.

Organizer: Associate Professor Chungen Yin, chy@energy.aau.dk
