Introduction:

Welcome to Introduction to Wind Power (Generation and Integration)

Description:

Description: especially offshore wind, and the associated technical challenges of integrating variable and inverter-based generation into the power grid. The course offers a broad overview of wind turbine systems and dives into critical technical components including generators, power electronics, control strategies, grid requirements, and system optimization, AI applications. Selected content is based on recent research contributions in the field.

Including learning objectives: By the end of the course, participants should be able to:

  • Understand the structure and operation of wind turbine systems, and special situations of offshore wind power plants
  • Describe key electrical components, such as generators and power electronic converters
  • Analyze the operation and control of wind farms and their integration into power systems
  • Understand the impacts of wind power on power system
  • Gain insight into current trends and AI/ML applications in wind power engineering

Prerequisites: 

Participants should preferably have general knowledge in electrical engineering, including familiarity with power systems, electrical machines, and basic control concepts.

Important information concerning PhD courses: 

There is a no-show fee of DKK 3,000 for each course where the student does not show up. Cancellations are accepted no later than 2 weeks before the start of the course. Registered illness is of course an acceptable reason for not showing up on those days. Furthermore, all courses open for registration approximately four months before start of the course.

We cannot ensure any seats before the deadline for enrolment, all participants will be informed after the deadline, approximately 3 weeks before the start of the course.
