Welcome to FUNDAMENTALS OF ELECTROENCEPHALOGRAPHY (EEG) DATA ACQUISITION AND INTERPRETATION (2021) (F2F)

Description: Surface electroencephalography (EEG) has becoming a popular method to describe electrocortical activation. This course will provide an overview on the relevance of surface electroencephalography (EEG) for understanding the supraspinal role on motor control and learning. The topics covered include:

  • Basic aspects of neurophysiology relevant for EEG recordings
  • EEG and time-locked events (MRCPs, ERPs, with focus on brain-computer interface)
  • EEG in continuous recordings (relevant brain states, time-frequency analysis)
  • EEG and behavioural neuroscience (diverse topics)
  • Basic data processing (filtering, re-referencing, EEG data cleaning)

A combination of theoretical lectures and hands-on experiences in laboratory exercises will elicit reflections on the methodological advantages and disadvantages of the tool. The lecturers will strongly emphasize the experimental procedures and potential relevance of the outcomes measured through EEG recordings. The data recorded during experimental sessions will be further used on the course assignment, providing students the opportunity to develop data processing skills and the ability to interpret EEG data.

Important information concerning PhD courses: We have over some time experienced problems with no-show for both project and general courses. It has now reached a point where we are forced to take action. Therefore, the Doctoral School has decided to introduce a no-show fee of DKK 3.000 for each course where the student does not show up. Cancellations are accepted no later than 2 weeks before start of the course. Registered illness is of course an acceptable reason for not showing up on those days. Furthermore, all courses open for registration approximately four months before start. This can hopefully also provide new students a chance to register for courses during the year. We look forward to your registrations.
