Description
This course offers a practical and strategic introduction to the art and science of grant writing, tailored specifically for doctoral students and early-career researchers in the health sciences. With a focus on securing competitive funding, students will learn how to craft compelling proposals that align with funding priorities, demonstrate scientific merit, and articulate societal impact.
Through a combination of lectures, peer review, and hands-on writing workshops, participants will:
- Explore the structure and components of successful grant applications.
- Analyse real-world examples from funding bodies.
- Introductory skills in budgeting, project planning, and stakeholder engagement.
- Receive individualized feedback on their own draft proposals (extended abstract).
- By the end of the course, students will have a solid foundation in grant writing and a draft of a research proposal.
Literature:
A reading list with relevant papers and book chapters will be announced before the course.
Prerequisites:
Being enrolled in a PhD program, mostly relevant after 1.5 years in the PhD.
Evaluation:
Evaluation will be announced at the course.

Important information concerning PhD courses:
There is a no-show fee of DKK 3,000 for each course where the student does not show up. Cancellations are accepted no later than 2 weeks before the start of the course. Registered illness is of course an acceptable reason for not showing up on those days. Furthermore, all courses open for registration approximately four months before start of the course.We cannot ensure any seats before the deadline for enrolment, all participants will be informed after the deadline, approximately 3 weeks before the start of the course.
To attend courses at the Doctoral School in Medicine, Biomedical Science and Technology you must be enrolled as a PhD student.
