Description:

This PhD course takes its asset to one of the main societal challenges western countries are facing: The ageing of the society – 2.9% increase in the share of European population aged >65+ years between 2014 and 2024. Ageing is associated with physiological deterioration of the cardio-vascular, pulmonary, and musculoskeletal systems. The focus of the course will be on the digital technologies applied in laboratory- and home-based approaches that can be used to maintain or improve the level of activity of older adults.

Internationally recognized speakers as well as speakers from Aalborg University Hospital and Aalborg University will be invited. The addressed topics will include for example: biomechanics, co-morbidities, interventions, motor coordination, digital technologies ranging from sensor to AI contributing to promote physical activity.

Students will be asked to design a study targeting older adults and deploying digital approaches.

Important information concerning PhD courses: 

There is a no-show fee of DKK 3,000 for each course where the student does not show up. Cancellations are accepted no later than 2 weeks before the start of the course. Registered illness is of course an acceptable reason for not showing up on those days. Furthermore, all courses open for registration approximately four months before start of the course.

We cannot ensure any seats before the deadline for enrolment, all participants will be informed after the deadline, approximately 3 weeks before the start of the course.

To attend courses at the Doctoral School in Medicine, Biomedical Science and Technology you must be enrolled as a PhD student.
