Product development cost and time can be reduced significantly while development and test of mutual components and assembly for different models can be applied just one time. On the other hand platform thinking can be considered as a suggested solution for development cost cutting by achieving economies of scale through manufacturing larger amount of core components that can be used in several product models (Mayer & Lehnerd, 1997).

One of the industries that recently has started get traction to the concept of digital platform is the automotive industry which look at digital platform on their infotainment systems as an opportunity. Responding fast and wide market change seems necessary for the firms in order to compete with the others and gain competitive advantage. In this situation the role of digital platforms in digital product development is undeniable. Successful adoption of multisided platform within a firm can have many benefits. However, they can face to different types of challenges particularly in response to each side’s requests. Consequently this research will mainly focus on the probable challenges for a company that leverages digital platform and firms’ approach to tackle these challenges. In recent years a rich academic literature has developed on innovation within a firm by adopting multisided-platform approach. To our knowledge to answer this question that how a firm can influence/control/ govern an ecosystem depends on interplay between platform and ecosystem needs more study and exploration.
