Introduction:

Description: The Doctoral School of Sociale Sciences and Humanities invites all PhD students enrolled in the Doctoral School to take part in the PhD Career Day. 


Lene Tanggaard is a professor at AAU and is leading the Danish Research and Innovation Council’s work evaluating the Ph.D. education.

What do candidates learn during a Ph.D. that has broader relevance, and which skills can be applied beyond the scope of the PhD project itself? 

PhD alumni with different disciplinary backgrounds will share valuable insights into career experiences, challenges and success stories.

Kristian Østergaard from AAU PhD will present the services available to your through the career hub and how to use them

08:30–08:45: Registration and Morning Coffee

08:45–09:00: Welcome and Introduction to the Day’s Program by PhD Study Director Anette Therkelsen

09:00–09:45: Presentation by Professor Lene Tanggaard Pedersen Topic: Career Paths, Transferable Skills, and Updates from DFIR on the evaluation of the PhD education in Denmark

09:45–10:45: Presentations by Alumni from the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities

· Topic: Transition from a PhD to the Private Sector . ”Quick and dirty. Rapid knowledge production in a Danish consultancy”

· Speaker 2: Marianne Hundahl Hansen, Assistant Professor, Department of Law AAU

· Practical exercises in career planning and goal setting with a focus on reflective engagement with the plan
