Welcome to Structure Dependence and Characterization of Mechanical and Rheological Properties of Inorganic Materials

Description:
The mechanical and rheological properties of inorganic solids (ceramics, glasses, cements, metals, carbon, etc.) determine their range of use and typically also the material lifetime. It is therefore important to understand the dependence of mechanical and rheological properties on composition and micro- and macro-structures. For the planned Ph.D. course, we introduce the state-of-art knowledge of the modern characterization tools (both in situ and ex situ) of mechanical and rheological properties and the structural origin of viscosity, elasticity, plasticity, and fracture. Both experimental and computational studies will be included. The similarities and differences between various types of materials systems will be highlighted by inviting several distinguished lecturers to present their recent progress. The students will do some assignments from lecturers through group work.

Important information concerning PhD courses We have over some time experienced problems with no-show for both project and general courses. It has now reached a point where we are forced to take action. Therefore, the Doctoral School has decided to introduce a no-show fee of DKK 5,000 for each course where the student does not show up. Cancellations are accepted no later than 2 weeks before start of the course. Registered illness is of course an acceptable reason for not showing up on those days. Furthermore, all courses open for registration approximately three months before start. This can hopefully also provide new students a chance to register for courses during the year. We look forward to your registrations.
