Important information: Eligible are PhD students who are in their second year in February 2017, and whose supervisor endorse the participation. The Doctoral School will cover travel and subsistence expenses for each PhD student according to AAU’s ordinary rules.
Description: The Fit for Industry Workshop is part of the Erasmus+ project PEP-UP (http://www.fit-for-industry.com/)
In this cross cultural, one week workshop for engineering PhD students, you will gain knowledge, skills and competences you need to succeed in the European industry. You will also learn more about the different possible career paths in industry.
You can expect to improve your competencies through:
- Discovering industry-relevant competencies and aligning them with your academic and personal achievements.
- Learning how to perform in industry with key skills such as strategic thinking, leadership and audience-engaging communication.
- Insights into career paths in industry, research and beyond.
- Transnational exchange of professional perspectives with peers.
Apart from registering through moodle, you should send an application to lsar@adm.aau.dk. Criteria for participation are:
- Complete fluency in English. Interest in industry as a career as well as international exposure are highly desirable. Additional non-academic extra-curricular activities would be a plus.
- The motivation (1-2 pages) should explain
- Why do you wish to participate in the workshop?
- What you are passionate about in this connection?
- How do you suppose that participation in the workshop will be of value to your career after finishing your PhD?
- A recommendation from your supervisor should be enclosed
The applications for participation will be evaluated by our local project expert (Associate Professor Thomas Arildsen from Department of Electronic Systems) and project manager (Lone Sarauw from the Doctoral School). Approx. 6 participants will be selected based on the motivations and taking into account the fact that we have to ensure that different research areas, doctoral programmes, departments, nationalities, and genders are represented. The participants from AAU will be discussed at a project meeting with the other partners in November 2016 to make sure that the same distribution accounts for the total number of participants (the eight participating universities each send three PhD students).
