Description:
Historically, Over-the-air (OTA) testing has been used and standardized to evaluate radio performance of antenna systems. OTA testing of single-antenna systems has been standardized for more than ten years, where solely antenna gain-related parameters are selected to characterize single antenna performance. These figures are not sufficient for multiple-antenna systems. For multiple-antenna systems, the performance is determined together by the antenna design and the propagation channels. Furthermore, new capabilities with multiple antenna systems, e.g., an adaptive radiation pattern to improve signal level or to reduce interference, require a knowledge of propagation channels. Various OTA methodologies have been proposed to evaluate MIMO mobile terminals, where the objective is to assess the performance of MIMO devices in a reliable, repeatable, and feasible way in laboratory conditions.
Main topics of the course: OTA testing of single antenna systems, Spatial channel models, MIMO channel modeling, Multipath propagation, OTA testing of multiple antenna systems, MIMO antenna performance evaluation, channel emulation and channel estimation.

Important information concerning PhD courses
We have over some time experienced problems with no-show for both project and general courses. It has now reached a point where we are forced to take action. Therefore, the Doctoral School has decided to introduce a no-show fee of DKK 5,000 for each course where the student does not show up. Cancellations are accepted no later than 2 weeks before start of the course. Registered illness is of course an acceptable reason for not showing up on those days. Furthermore, all courses open for registration approximately three months before start. This can hopefully also provide new students a chance to register for courses during the year. We look forward to your registrations.
