• Welcome to Integrated Analytics on Big Data

Description: Big Data is being collected in ever larger amounts, e.g., from the web, social media, and sensors. However, it is not enough to be able to just store and query this data, since humans cannot get an overview of the data in this way. Instead, advanced analytics (data mining, prediction, forecasting,..) is applied to the huge data volumes to extract trends and patterns, and use historical data to predict future events, in order to gain knowledge.
Traditionally, the data management layer (storage, querying) and the analytics layer were different systems with little integration. However, in order to scale well enough to support analytics on Big Data, new systems with integrated data management and analytics have emerged in recent years.
This course will introduce the basics of Big Data management and analytics, and go on to describe the architecture, functionality, and implementation/optimization techniques of integrated analytics systems for Big Data,
And show how to use specific integrated analytics systems for  concrete Big Data analytics tasks.

    Important information concerning PhD courses
We have over some time experienced problems with no-show for both project and general courses. It has now reached a point where we are forced to take action. Therefore, the Doctoral School has decided to introduce a no-show fee of DKK 5,000 for each course where the student does not show up. Cancellations are accepted no later than 2 weeks before start of the course. Registered illness is of course an acceptable reason for not showing up on those days. Furthermore, all courses open for registration approximately three months before start. This can hopefully also provide new students a chance to register for courses during the year. We look forward to your registrations.
