Introduction: Welcome to Method and Social Science Theory Description: The course will address the problems and possibilities of case study research. How can we secure the scientific level of case study research? How can we conduct a case study and how can we analyse cases. We will especially emphasis the narrative elements of cases and present a conceptualising method for case studies. During the course the students will be given the possibility to present and discuss their own projects and cases during the group sessions. Prerequisites: Interest and commitment Learning objectives: The main objective is to find methods that will allow the participants to diagnose real problems that go beyond the surface of legitimisation processes, so problem solving can become a vital part of the research process. Teaching methods: Lectures, student presentations and dialogue Criteria for assessment: Each participant is asked to make a written account of the research method applied to their own PhD project. The written account amounts to app 10 pages.
