Welcome to Stata and SPSS - tools in biomedical research

Description: The objective of this course is to give the participants a case based introduction to two important tools in biomedical research - Stata and SPSS. Based on real data from medical research projects the intent is to give the participants an insight into the process of transforming raw data into output that is suitable for a publication. During the course the participants will be introduced to the following in Stata and SPSS:
i. How to load data.
ii. How to prepare data for analysis.
iii. How to run analysis.
iv. How to manage output.
v. How to present results.
vi. How to learn more.
The course will consist of both plenum presentations and hands-on exercises.
Literature: Material handed out at course

Prerequisites: Primarily for medical phd-students without knowledge of this software. A PC with relevant software (Stata or SPSS) is required.

Evaluation: Attendance at lessons and participation in exercises
