Description: Graph structures are underlying many use-cases of data processing and communications, for instance the connection structures of communication networks, water distribution in pipes, energy distribution infrastructure, social relation networks or ontologies for context aware systems can be described and analyzed by graph methods. In addition, the processing of data from such systems will benefit from the explicit inclusion of the underlying graph structure; use-cases involve the processing of measurements for state estimation in distribution infrastructures or the processing of distributed logs from communication infrastructures for fault localisation.
This PhD course will provide a set of methodologies to work with data on graph structures. Application cases from communication networks and from distribution infrastructures will be used to motivate the example cases and assess some of the methodologies in practical context.
The course will cover:
• Introduction to graphs, data structures for graph representations and properties of graphs; revision of selected graph algorithms
• Practical use-cases for data processing on top of graph representations: Communication Networks and Electricity Distribution Grids
• Signal processing on graphs
• Machine learning via graph neural networks and its application to communication use-cases
Important information concerning PhD courses: We have over some time experienced problems with no-show for both project and general courses. It has now reached a point where we are forced to take action. Therefore, the Doctoral School has decided to introduce a no-show fee of DKK 3000 for each course where the student does not show up. Cancellations are accepted no later than 2 weeks before start of the course. Registered illness is of course an acceptable reason for not showing up on those days. Furthermore, all courses open for registration approximately four months before start. This can hopefully also provide new students a chance to register for courses during the year. We look forward to your registrations.
