Welcome to Intelligent 5G and Satellite Communication
POSTPONED TO FALL 2020

Description:

The 5G and satellite communication industry are growing rapidly, as evidenced by a number of evolution trends such as the deployment of low-Earth orbit (LEO) constellations, new application cases for autonomous vehicles, remote health, smart home and cities. To address the new requirements emerging during the evolution the communication system is facing significant challenges (e.g. ultra high reliability, extremely low latency, and high power efficiency) we never experienced before.
The recent advances in artificial intelligence (AI), including machine learning (ML), deep learning (DL) and Big Data hold promising potential for addressing many complex problems in 5G and satellite communication systems, e.g. network management, service orchestration, and system design and optimization.

This course aims to deliver the knowledge about the fundamentals and the state of-the-art ML and DL technologies tailored for 5G and satellite communication systems. The course will cover three main topics:

1. Application of ML/DL in communication devices
- Modeling of electronic devices using ML and DL
- Design of electronic components using supervised learning
- Linearization of power ampli􀂦ers using DNN

2. Modeling and characterization of communication sub-systems
- Modeling of subsystems using DNN
- Transceiver linearization (active phased arrays) using DNN
- Channel characterization using DNN

3. ML/DL based performance optimization for wireless communication
- System calibration and beam-forming using ML
- SVM and DNN based indoor localization
- Remote fault diagnosis of satellite communication
- Digital signal recovery using DNN for satellite to ground links

Important information concerning PhD courses: We have over some time experienced problems with no-show for both project and general courses. It has now reached a point where we are forced to take action. Therefore, the Doctoral School has decided to introduce a no-show fee of DKK 3,000 for each course where the student does not show up. Cancellations are accepted no later than 2 weeks before start of the course. Registered illness is of course an acceptable reason for not showing up on those days. Furthermore, all courses open for registration approximately four months before start. This can hopefully also provide new students a chance to register for courses during the year. We look forward to your registrations.
