Welcome to workshop on public involvement in development of community health services

Description
Over the last decades, co-production and public and patient involvement have attracted huge political and academic attention in e.g. public administrations and a variety of both hospital and community based health services. Researchers from the Public Health and Epidemiology group, Department of Health Science and Techonolgy, offer annual workshops on this topic.

The theme for this years’ workshop is public involvement in development of community health services

The workshop will offer an introduction to selected key concepts and theoretical approaches to public involvement in development of community health services. Furthermore, based on the results from a current study and systematic review, researchers will present an overview of methods that can be applied to perform public involvement in practice and of the existing (limited) knowledge on how patient-public involvement contributes to the development of services and the potential impacts of different methods.

During the workshop, we will discuss the differences between selected theoretical approaches and methods of how to perform public involvement in practice, reflect on the purpose and possible impact of public involvement in development of services and potential challenges in patient-public involvement as well as how to proceed.

The workshop will provide the participants with a working knowledge of the theory and practice of public involvement and allow them to exchange opinions, ideas and experiences.

Participants This workshop will bring together researchers, practitioners and Ph.D.-students from different research fields with a shared interest for public involvement to discuss the potentials, challenges and experiences related to public involvement targeting the development of health services.

Evaluation Active participation. Furthermore, participants should submit a 2-page presentation of their own project or an idea for a project, focusing on how and a patient-public involvement should be applied.

Important information concerning PhD courses: We have over some time experienced problems with no-show for both project and general courses. It has now reached a point where we are forced to take action. Therefore, the Doctoral School has decided to introduce a no-show fee of DKK 3,000 for each course where the student does not show up. Cancellations are accepted no later than 2 weeks before start of the course. Registered illness is of course an acceptable reason for not showing up on those days. Furthermore, all courses open for registration approximately four months before start. This can hopefully also provide new students a chance to register for courses during the year. We look forward to your registrations.
